About the Museum

Alf Lechner Museum

KEY-INFORMATION

The Lechner Museum was inaugurated and opened to the public in February 2000. The former factory hall of the "Autounion" had been tranformed through sensitive and purposeful intervention into a functional museum building, where architecture steps back to open and create a space for presenting contemporary art over two floors.

In regularly changing exhibitions curated solo-shows by established and internationally recognized artists, interesting emerging artists as well as by Alf Lechner are presented to the public with a special focus on sculpture.

The full magnitude of the work of Alf Lechner can be best experienced indoors and outdoors at the large Lechner sculpture-parc in Obereichstätt, including the works-on-paper house, and a large exhibition hall for monumental sculptures. The sculpture parc can only be visited through guided tours.

ALF LECHNER | BEGINNING AND NO END

Mai 18th, 2017 - September 17th, 2017

BEGINNING AND NO END is the first exhibition at the Lechner Museum, Ingolstadt after the passing of its prominent founder and focuses for the first time on the roots of Alf Lechner's work. The exhibition presents about 40 early landscape drawings and 10 watercolors from the years 1945/1946 and sets these in juxtaposition with the late drawing works of the artist (2000-2016) as well as to his last group of sculptures: Würfelschnitte (cube-disections) from 2014.
